Friday Cheers tonight at Riverfront Park in Lynchburg. Gates are open 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with live music from Dragonfly. Bring your blankets and chairs to hang out, and of course there will be food and drinks. That's $5.  Get the schedule here.

22nd annual Roanoke Valley Spring Gem, Mineral & Jewelery Show - Salem Civic Center.   Friday and Saturday 10A to 6P, Sunday 11a to 6P.  $4; children under 16 FREE.

SATURDAY

Appalachian Power Festival run - 8A.  Registration $30. Elmwood Park

Crawfish Festival - Bower Center for the Arts in Bedford. 5P.

Cork & Blues Festival - 3 to 9P at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. $20.

Stars and Stripes Forever: Patriotic Concert - National D-Day Memorial - 7p.  $10 adults (at the door) youth 6 to 18 $8 at the door. Under 6 FREE.

Family Movie: "Wreck-It Ralph" - Gainsboro Library in Roanoke. 2P. Free.

 

SUNDAY

3RD annual Jazz Festival - Blue Ridge Vineyard in Eagle Rock. 3 to 8P.  $10, designated drivers $5.

In Lynchburg, the Hill City Cemetery will have a Confederate Memorial Day Service on Sunday. The yearly tradition starts at 3 p.m. and is free for everyone. And on Monday, the Lynchburg Bird Club will have a bird walk.

Movies at Longwood Park: "Brave". First 50 families receive a free bag of popcorn. 9P.  Free. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs.  

 

FESTIVAL 2013

River's Edge Sports Complex May 24 - 27. Daytime activities are FREE. Single night $13 in advance, $15 at the gate. $50 all four days. Free to 8 and younger. VIP tickets $60 per night.

MEMORIAL DAY

May 27 : Remembering Their Sacrifice National D-Day Memoral. 11a. Free until noon. Guests are asked to bring their own chairs.

Lynchburg Memorial Day 10K run and 2 mile walk. Riverfront Festival Park. 8A to 12N.  Proceeds will go to Type 1 diabetes research.  Donations encouraged.


 

THURSDAY 

BB&T Party in Elmwood
- Downtown Roanoke's Beach Music Thursdays.   New location this year - on Jefferson Street, next to Elmwood Park and the Roanoke Main Library.  Gates open 5:30, music starts at 6P.  Admission $5 per person or buy "an any 10 ticket" for $45.  Kids under 12 free.
 
Bring your lawn chair and relax to great beach music. No coolers.
