“Cheers” star George Wendt has been hospitalized with chest pains and had to drop out of a production of “The Odd Couple” in Chicago. The actor “is getting medical attention and will eventually make a full recovery,” said the executive director of the Northlight Theatre. Wendt, 64, who played beer-guzzling Norm Peterson on the popular sitcom, checked into the hospital on Sunday.
