BREATHE DEEP!!!!!

A team of Korean scientists collected air samples and found that every minute  you breathe, you inhale between 160,000 and four million viruses . . . and  between 86,000 and 1.1 million bacteria.
What's worse, over HALF of the  viruses they found didn't match any currently-known species . . . and the  majority of the ones they COULD identify are infectious.

IT'S THAT TIME...DEER IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE

Deer in the mood for love can be a danger to you in a vehicle.  Here are a few tips from police  to help you steer clear of deer:
  • Deer are especially active pre-dawn to mid-morning and dusk to early evening.
  • Deer travel in herds. If you see one deer, others are likely nearby.
  • Slow down. The slower you're driving, the more time you have to avoid the  deer if you see it.
  • Use high beams when there's no oncoming traffic, to widen your area of  visibility.
  • Notice Deer Crossing signs.
  • Watch for "eye shine" or light reflecting off a deer's eyes. When you see it,  slow down
  • If a deer is "frozen in the headlights," flash them, since steady lights can  mesmerize deer.
  • Don't swerve to avoid a deer, because it can cause you to lose control of  your vehicle.
  • If a crash is going to happen, take your foot off the brake at the time of  impact, to lower the chance of the deer crashing through your windshield.
  • Don't rely on hood whistles, car horns, or other devices to scare deer. They  don't work.

ONE WEEK

Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer had a baby boy on Sunday.  That's the good news. Now, possibly the bad news...she will be back at work next week --  according to Slate.com.  They say Mayer is setting a really, really bad precedent for women that would like to take a traditional maternity leave:
"Horrible bosses around the country will start expecting Mayer-level commitment, the thinking goes: “If Marissa Mayer could dial in to the 7 a.m. conference call from her private recovery room just a few hours after her first child was born, why can’t you?"

Is six months too long?  Is it even possible to go back to work after only one week?

NEW BEAUTY TREND?   WHAT WERE THEY THINKING

Saw this over the weekend and couldn't believe it.  It's a new beauty trend in Asia that is drawing interest around the world as well.    It is called Bagel Head. It is when people inject saline into their foreheads.   Then press their thumbs in the middle of the large saline-filled bump to create what looks like a bagel.  It only lasts a few hours then goes back to normal.  Would you do this?  Does it look good?

WEATHER CHANNEL WANTS TO NAME WINTER BLIZZARDS

The Weather Channel is going to start naming blizzards this winter . . . the  same way that the National Weather Service gives names to hurricanes.  They  say it'll raise awareness, make it easier for people to follow a winter storm's  progress, and give the storm a personality.  They go through the alphabet,  just like hurricane names do.  The first storms this winter will be named  Athena, Brutus, Caesar, Draco, and Euclid.

DON'T FALL FOR IT!

How many times have you heard a skin cream has 'deep penetrating action?' Don't believe it -- it's impossible, according to a university study.  There's no way the nanoparticles of skin cream can carry nutrients deep under the surface, as they claim, because skin acts as a barrier, keeping nanoparticles out of the body, as well as inside the body.  The so-called 'penetrating action' from skin cream comes from deposits into creases and not under the surface.

THE BEST PART OF WAKING UP
You might want to rethink the way you brew coffee -- and the cost of it. A team of engineers who worked previously at Apple and at NASA designed the $11,000 The Blossom One Limited coffeemaker that brews coffee at just the right temperature. It's intended for commercial use in cafes and restaurants.

Weird, But True News

On Saturday, a man tried to buy a 12-pack of Mountain Dew at a convenience store  in Iowa.  When it turned out he didn't have enough money, he went to plan B  . . . and pulled out a SWITCHBLADE.  He took a two-liter of Mountain Dew at  knifepoint and ran.  Police are still looking for him.

Staying Healthy Today

Stressed? Got the blues? Need to banish anxiety?

Then stay away from processed foods and eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A study out of Canada's University of Calgary finds patients with mood disorders who ate the healthiest diets scored highest on tests measuring well-being and happiness.  The common denominator here - nutritious foods give your brain the vitamins and minerals it needs to funtion at its best.

Good News Story

Elaine Kalpin of Tonawanda, NY  said her late husband, Tom, lost his 1944 class ring while swimming at a Canadian beach shortly after his graduation.

Some 65 years later,  she was recently contacted by Elmer Covelli, who said he found the ring buried in the sand at a beach in the 1950s.      Covelli said his son was recently able to find Tom Kalpin's name from the "TGK" initials on the ring by partnering with a friend at the Pentagon.

Covelli said he did a Google search and obtained contact information for Elaine Kalpin, whose husband died in 1991.

Kalpin said she immediately contacted her three daughters, who said they were ecstatic to receive the memento of their father last week, especially since they had very little from his early years in life.
