A massive, mile-wide tornado with winds up to 200 mph spent 40 minutes on the ground as it devastated homes, schools and businesses across southern Oklahoma City and its suburbs Monday afternoon. Keep the folks from Moore, Oklahoma in your thoughts and prayers.
-A giant tornado killed 51 in Oklahoma. That includes 20 kids
-Officials could see as many as 40 more
-The tornado, a half-mile wide with 200 mph winds tore apart Moore, Oklahoma, a city with 41-thousand people. It's about 10-miles south of Oklahoma City.
-Briarwood Elementary in Oklahoma City and Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore, Oklahoma were destroyed.
-Hail as large as baseballs were reported from Georgia to Minnesota

Gleaning For The World founder Rev. Ron Davidson says his organization is lending a helping hand to the Oklahoma tornado victims. GFTW is hooking up with an Oklahoma church to buy a tractor trailer load of water. They're also going to send 5 loads of items for the victims and go to Oklahoma.

Downtown Roanoke took a soaking yesterday, causing lots of "urban flooding" on the city streets. In fact, the roof of a building near the old #1 Fire Station on Church Ave collapsed. The building was vacant. Firefighters feel it was from the rain.
A handful of people spoke at Roanoke City Council last night protesting the 28.5% pay increase for RCC.
Once again the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign is underway.
In the Roanoke Valley police and fire officials met up on the Blue Ridge Parkway to help get their point across. There the groups conducted a multi-agency traffic checkpoint. The BIG goal is to get Virginians to buckle up. In Virginia the average is just 78 percent while nationwide usage averages 86 percent. The campaign runs thru June 2.
Roanoke College's recreation center namesake - Homer C. Bast - has pasted away at age 98. He was professor, administrator, and coach at the college from 1946 to 1979.
