(Tampa, FL) -- Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ is expected to be released from a Tampa hospital today after he was struck in the head by a line drive in the second inning of last night's game against the Rays. Happ was immediately floored by the shot off the bat of Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Desmond Jennings. Happ suffered a head contusion and a cut to his left ear. He was immobilized but did wave to the crowd before being taken off the field on a stretcher. Happ said in a hospital statement that he's in "good spirits" and he "appreciates the support of the baseball community."
