A pair of music's royal family members are bringing the Gap back to television.
The brand's first commercials in four years feature Alexa Ray Joel and Dhani Harrison paying tribute to their famous dads. Joel - a.k.a the daughter of Billy Joel - performs a snippet of her father's hit "Just the Way You Are."
Likewise, Harrison plays the Beatles tune "For You Blue," which was performed and written by dad George Harrison.
Gap's global CMO Seth Farbman tells "Ad Age" putting the progeny of famous rockers in their "Back to Blue" campaign just seemed like a "really rich" idea for a brand built on the "generation gap."
Joel and Harrison's GAP ads are expected to run during event-oriented programming like upcoming NFL games and season premieres of shows such as "Modern Family" and "Saturday Night Live."
