Bon Jovi's "Because We Can" tour "couldn't" Wednesday night.
Instead of performing, drummer Tico Torres had emergency surgery to remove his appendix!
Frontman Jon Bon Jovi says in a website post Thursday that the operation was "a success and Tico is now recovering under the care of his doctors."
He adds that Tico didn't want to miss the show. Jon says Tico tried to get his doctors to allow him to perform, promising that he'd return to the hospital for the surgery after the concert, but "the doctors prevailed."
Bon Jovi thanks the medical staff who "helped our friend through this difficult time," and apologizes to the fans for any inconvenience the last-minute postponement has caused.
Torres' health has forced Bon Jovi to make some adjustments to their tour schedule. Jon says the band will remain in Mexico City with Tico until he's released from the hospital.
The group will resume their tour with their appearance at Rock In Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on September 20th. Bon Jovi has rescheduled their Mexico City show for September 29th. The full updated itinerary is posted at BonJovi.com.
