UPDATE: Tuesday, 9 a.m.
ABC 13: A Flood Watch continues today for much of the listening area as a slow moving storm system continues to spin to our southwest dragging moisture off the Atlantic Ocean and piling it up against the mountains in our part of Virginia.
The result will be continued periods of rain, heavy at times, through tonight. Thunderstorms will also be mixed in with some of the heavier rain, possibly containing small hail.
Flood Watches are currently posted in Amherst, Bedford, Botetourt, Nelson, Roanoke, Rockbridge and Salem. The river is high at the bridge on Mill Lane in Salem- authorities are watching that area closely.
Several secondary roads are closed in Roanoke County because of flooding, and a downed tree closed part of Route 631N in Amherst at Emmanuel Chruch Road early this morning. The road conditions will change and be updated throughout the day, so please CLICK HERE for ROAD UPDATES.
Remember: Do not drive in areas where water covers the road.
